How much do you care about Menopause?

Estrogen is one of a group of steroid hormones that are produced by the ovaries, placenta, adrenal glands and, in small amounts, by the testes of males. Estrogen causes the development of secondary sexual characteristics (eg breasts, larger hips) in female adolescents and is involved in rebuilding the lining of the uterus after menstruation. Estrogen also plays a role in calcium absorption and balance. The post-menopausal drop in estrogen in women results in bone demineralization and osteoporosis, among other menopausal symptoms. Estrogen-like compounds are also formed by certain plants (called phytoestrogens).

According to data from the WHO (World Health Organization), it is estimated that by 2030 there will be 1.2 billion women over the age of 50. Most of them (about 80 percent) live in developing countries. And every year the population of menopausal women increases by about three percent. Rough estimates show that there will be around 30-40 million elderly women (months) out of Indonesia's total population of 240-250 million. In that month category (age over 60 years), almost 100 percent have experienced menopause with all the consequences and accompanying effects such as osteoporosis, the risk of cardiovascular disease is twice as great, to skin and beauty problems due to decreased collagen synthesis in the body.

Women will experience menopause marked by the cessation of menstrual circulation and also followed by weakening of the reproductive organs and symptoms of aging appear in several bodies. When a woman begins to enter menopause, there are several symptoms that will be felt, these symptoms are vaginal dryness, hot flashes / night sweats, melancholy, nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, tingling, fatigue, rheumatism, palpitations, vertigo, formication. Not all of these signs are felt by every woman. However, the most common symptoms experienced by postmenopausal women are night sweats and vaginal dryness. These symptoms can be improved by consuming sources of phytoestrogens but which are not harmful to the body.
